Cost & insurance

You will know the price before we start.

The most common question anyone asks about this office is whether there are hidden fees. There are not, and it is worth setting out exactly how that works rather than just asserting it.

How billing works here

  1. You are examined and told what you are looking at

Including which work is urgent, which is worth doing soon, and which can safely be watched for a while.

  2. You get the full cost in writing

Every part of the treatment, not a headline figure with the rest arriving later. If an implant needs three components, all three are on the estimate.

  3. Your insurance is checked before you commit

The front desk contacts your plan and tells you what it is expected to pay and what it is not, so the number you hear is close to the number you pay.

  4. Nothing starts until you have agreed

If something changes once treatment is under way — a crack that turns out to run deeper than the x-ray showed — we stop and tell you before continuing.

If you have dental insurance

The office works with most PPO dental plans. Rather than publish a list that goes out of date, the front desk will check your specific plan and your specific remaining benefit before your first appointment.

Call with the name of your plan and the subscriber details. It takes a few minutes and it means nobody is surprised at checkout.

Worth knowing: most plans reset annually and a lot of people lose unused benefit every December without realising. If you have treatment pending, ask about the timing.

If you do not

Say so when you book. You will be quoted the cash price up front, and told honestly what needs doing now and what can wait — which for somebody paying out of pocket is often the more useful half of the conversation.

A significant number of patients here have no dental insurance at all. It is a normal conversation, not an awkward one.

Ask the front desk about payment options when you discuss the treatment plan.

Why this page exists

A question that sat unanswered for seven years.

On this practice's Google listing, somebody once asked: “Is this a good dentist to see w/ no hidden fees?”

It was answered by another patient, who wrote: “They have always told me costs up front.” That is the correct answer. It should not have had to come from a stranger, and this page is the office answering it properly.

Common questions

Cost & insurance

Are there hidden fees?

No. You get the full cost of any treatment in writing before you agree to it, along with what your plan is expected to cover. If something changes once we are in the tooth, we stop and tell you first.

Do you accept my insurance?

The office works with most PPO dental plans. Call with the name of your plan and the front desk will check your specific coverage before you come in.

What if I have no insurance?

Say so when you book. You get the cash price up front and an honest view of what needs doing now versus what can safely wait.

Do you offer payment plans?

Ask the front desk when you discuss the treatment plan. What is available depends on the treatment and the amount.

Will you tell me if something can wait?

Yes, and patients raise this repeatedly in their reviews. There are no production targets in a single-dentist practice, which removes the main reason a treatment plan gets padded.

New patients are welcome.

Call the office and the front desk can usually tell you then and there when you can come in.
